Name the click before you ship the screen.

Workspace Pathhub is a small teaching practice for in-app event tracking strategy. We sit with product, data, and engineering until the catalogue, the properties, and the ownership model can be defended in a release review.

How a week in the studio actually runs

We do not sell a seven-step funnel. The sequence below is the one we use when a team already ships weekly.

Monday audit

You bring a screen recording and the current event list. We mark collisions, unused properties, and names that only make sense to the person who added them.

Wednesday rewrite

Verbs get locked. Objects get a home. Trigger conditions are written in English a QA engineer can test without a product manager in the room.

Friday contract

The week ends with a one-page event contract: owner, volume expectation, PII stance, and the date it should be retired if the surface dies.

What we refuse to decorate

A property for every curiosity

If a field will not change a decision in the next two quarters, it stays out of the payload. Curiosity belongs in a research interview, not in every button_clicked.

Vendor-shaped taxonomies

Tools come and go. We teach a catalogue that can move between warehouses without renaming half the product because a UI template suggested “Screen View 12”.

From people who sat the studio

The property dictionary exercise in week three forced us to drop fourteen fields we had been shipping “just in case”. Our warehouse jobs got quieter the following sprint.

Useful on ownership. Less useful if your engineering team cannot ship a tracking plan without a two-week RFC. We still needed an internal champion after the last session.

If your events argue with your screens

Write to the Waterston desk with a short description of the surface you want to instrument. We reply within two working days and will say plainly if a cohort is the wrong fit.
